In today's digital world, accessibility is a critical criterion of web and mobile design. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) set standards for making online content accessible to everyone, including those who are differently abled. INTERCERT offers compliance assessment services to help your organization meet these requirements and create an inclusive space.
WCAG : This standard provides a list of guidelines that industries need to follow to promote inclusivity irrespective of their physical abilities. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), developed by the W3C, set the global standard for making websites accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. Built around four principles- perceivable, operable, understandable and robust (POUR). These guidelines make sure web content works for all. WCAG has three levels: A (basic), AA (intermediate), and AAA (advanced).
ADA : The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), passed in 1990, is a U.S. law that prohibits discrimination based on disability in all public areas such as workplaces, schools, transport and more. Under Title III, businesses must also make sure their websites and digital services are accessible. It’s all about giving everyone equal access, online and offline.
Here is a general overview of the key steps your organization should follow to achieve WCAG & ADA compliance:
Conduct an initial assessment to determine whether the current process meets the requirements of standards or frameworks.
Identify the scope to understand inclusions and exclusions, which establishes boundaries, supports, goal achievement, and a clear path to achieving success.
Ensures a streamlined workflow, aligning processes to achieve goals while maintaining efficiency and quality.
Identify, develop, and implement solutions to meet requirements, improving and optimizing them to remain effective and aligned.
Provide training to boost skills, awareness, and understanding of handling tasks, managing risks, and applying the best methods to improve the process and requirements of the standard or framework requirements.
Conduct an audit to examine compliance with standards or framework requirements and provide an assessment report that includes compliance evaluation and improvement areas.
Ensure constant process improvement to enhance outcomes and drive efficiency and overall performance.
