ISO 21001 is an international standard designed specifically for educational organizations. It provides a common management tool for organizations that offer educational products and services capable of meeting learner and other beneficiary needs and requirements. The aim of ISO 21001 is to enhance the satisfaction of learners, other customers, and staff through the effective application of its management system.
ISO 21001 emphasizes a learner-centered approach, ensuring that educational services are customized to the needs and expectations of learners. This approach fosters an environment where learners' development and success are prioritized.
The standard promotes a culture of continuous improvement within educational organizations. By implementing ISO 21001, institutions commit to regularly evaluating and enhancing their educational processes, leading to better outcomes and higher satisfaction among learners.
ISO 21001 stresses the importance of inclusivity and accessibility in education. It encourages institutions to provide equal opportunities for all learners, regardless of their background, abilities, or circumstances, ensuring that everyone has access to quality education.
The standard helps educational organizations align their management systems with their strategic objectives. This alignment ensures that all educational activities and processes contribute to the overall mission and vision of the institution.
ISO 21001 helps educational organizations deliver inclusive, learner-centered and high-quality learning experiences. It provides a framework to align objectives with learners’ needs, drive innovation, ensure consistency and continually improve outcomes that enhance credibility and social responsibility.
ISO 21001 follows the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle and consists of ten sections. Three are introductory, while the remaining seven cover mandatory requirements for the Educational Organization Management System (EOMS):
